5 Reasons It’s Better to Travel to D.C. by Bus, Instead of a Plane

Travel Bus

Our nation's capital is truly remarkable. With hundreds of years of rich legacy packed into the 68 square miles that make up Washington, D.C., the city represents a great destination for a history-rich vacation.

Even better, the journey from upstate South Carolina to the capital is only around 500 miles. If you're planning a trip to the area by plane, you're sure to have a great time, but you can have an awesome time if you travel there by bus.

1. You Don't Have to Drive

If you've never visited the area, just know that traffic can be a real nightmare. Washington, D.C. comes in at number 6 on the list of cities with the worst traffic in the U.S., and at a whopping 15 on the world list.

If you plan to drive and rent a car, just know that much of your journey will be spent behind the wheel fighting traffic jams and wandering aimlessly for parking spots. When you rely on a bus charter, you don't have to worry about these types of woes. You get to sit back and enjoy yourself.

2. You Save Money

When you charter a bus, you can split the cost evenly between the passengers. On an airplane, things are a lot different. Not only are the prices higher, but where you sit on the plane when you book your flight and even where you book your trip, such as via the telephone or online, will all determine how much you pay.

You could easily pay considerably more than the person sitting next to you. Once you add in luggage fees for a family, airplane travel is often quite expensive.

3. You Get an Adventure

Taking a bus charter to D.C. gives you an adventure that you would miss when traveling by plane. A bus charter provides more time to enjoy the company of loved ones or friends and to take in the awesome sites you pass along the way.

With air travel, you fly over it all. You're packed into a small space and you may sit next to a complete stranger. With bus travel, you can take pictures, play a game of checkers with your child, or even sit back and enjoy a quick nap.

4. There's No Need to Rush

If you're flying and traveling home from Reagan National Airport, you need to arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight takes off. When you factor in the time spent returning the rental car, navigating traffic to get to the airport and long security lines, depending on the location of your hotel, you may have to leave three or more hours in advance.

With a chartered bus, there is no rental car return, no traffic to navigate, and no TSA screening stations. Travel is as simple as walking on the bus and heading home.

5. You Can Charge Your Devices, and Use Wi-Fi

If you're a techie, parting with your devices, for even a couple of hours sounds like torture. Fortunately, when you travel by a bus charter, you don't have to. First, the Wi-Fi works the entire trip.

On the plane, this feature isn't activated until the plane reaches a certain altitude and as the plane starts to descend for landing, it shuts down. On the bus, you can use the Internet whenever you want. Second, you can keep your devices charged, as many coaches have built-in power outlets for every passenger.

Whether it's a family reunion trip, a church trip or just a group of people ready for a good time, a trip to D.C. by bus will produce lasting memories. For your bus travel needs, at Jeans's Bus Service Inc., we're here to  help .
